I am disappointed with art. The whole time I was at Mills, they told us about the Headlands center for art, and what a mecca for visual artists it is. So I check out the painters that are currently in residence there, and they are terrible. Just awful, not one of them shows anything above a basic level of technique. Iapos;m so tired of art without technique. I am currently taking an art class to try to improve my technique, and these kids over at headlands are just messing around with paint like a bunch of high school beginning art students. It bugs me lots. Seriously, one of the paintings there reminded me of one I painted when I was a sophomore. This is not to say Iapos;m some amazing artist, I am at best a very good amateur level artist, but at least I am trying to improve. Grrrr frustrated.
